Jiaying University was established 90 years ago and was the first university operated by the local authority in Guangdong Province in the 20th century. Jiaying University is famous as the home of overseas Chinese and the Hakka culture. The study of Hakka Culture in this university is known by people both at home and abroad. The university has about 1,000 teachers and nearly 20,000 students. At present the university has four colleges and 16 departments offering 35 undergraduate programs.
