Yunnan University (YNU) is a prestigious university in China. Its main campus lies in urban Kunming city, Yunnan province. Founded in 1923, YNU was named as "Dong Lu University", and "Dong Lu" means "orient continent" in English. YNU was very famous in World War II since Kunming is not directly involved in battles, so a great amount of Chinese excellent scholars retreated to the city and taught in YNU. Now YNU has more than 20,000 students and 1,400 academic staff. There are 20 faculties (colleges). It is listed in top 70 Chinese Universities and its school of law ranked in top 30. The university has accepted more than 4,000 students from nearly 30 countries and regions since 1986.
