The University of Hong Kong, founded in 1911, is the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong. Outstanding academic staff of the University are recruited through rigorous selection procedures. In the year 2002-2003, it has a student population of 19,000, including 11,700 undergraduate students, 7,300 postgraduate students, of which more than 1,000 international students.
