Gansu Agricultural University (GAU) is situated in Lanzhou. It was originally called the National Veterinary College, founded in Lanzhou in October, 1946. During 60 years of development, GAU has become a comprehensive university and its educational scale and quality have been developing gradually and steadily. It has 16 colleges, 50 bachelor degree programs; 1 State Key Discipline, 3 key subjects in the State Ministry of Agricultural and 9 disciplines enjoy Provincial Key Discipline State; 3 State Class-One disciplines have the right to grant PH.D and MS degrees, another 19 disciplines have the right to grant PH.D degrees. Also, there are two Post-Doctoral Research departments and 43 disciplines have the right to grant MSC degrees. It also has 16 research institutes and 39 laboratories, which provide substantial support for academic activities.
