| Programs: |
The new curriculum is based on a two-tiered system (A-stream and B-stream). The A-stream is designed for the student who wants to acquire the basic skills in oral Chinese needed for a meaningful and enriching experience in China. The B-stream is designed for the student who already has some Chinese language skills or who wants to acquire the full range of linguistic competencies, including reading and writing Chinese, necessary to complete a substantive senior project.

Traditionally a home to scholars and artists, Hangzhou continues to be a center of learning in China and many universities are located here. The Friends World Program China Center, which has been in China since 1985 first in Hong Kong and then in Jilin province, moved to its present location in the city of Hangzhou in 1989. Located on the Jade Spring (Yuquan) Campus of Zhejiang University, it is within walking distance to West Lake. The China Center has been fortunate to receive support from both Zhejiang University and Long Island University to expand, remodel and refurnish the existing facilities.
